Terry Dawson
Music has been a major force in my life since my early childhood. By the age of 8, I was playing songs on an old guitar of my Dad's and it was a really big day when I got my first guitar at age sixteen. My strongest musical influences have been the Beatles and Led Zeppelin, and I've also always appreciated artists like Jim Croce, Cat Stevens and James Taylor.
My music today blends different flavours and ranges from soft to hard rock, crossing over into the folk and pop genres. With all my originals, I strive to make each song unique with different sounds and stylings. My music has been described as fresh and original and I always look for original yet universally relevant themes and topics.
The band Cedar Street was born through a chance meeting with a friend of a friend in 2006. When I met Ken Johnson, we had an almost instant connection, and many of the songs on the slef-titled Cedar Street album, released in 2007, were inspired or enhanced by Ken's contributions. Our self-titled Cedar Street CD was released in 2007. As of Fall 2008, Ken has left the band to pursue other interests. Cedar Street is now working on several new songs and very much enjoying the evolution. In addition to live performances and our recordings, we're focusing on placing our music on TV, in videos, and simply getting it "out there", as we feel it is relevant, current and meaningful.
